Kingston Wheelers John Bornhoft Memorial HC - Leith Hill
On the hottest October day in living memory with temperatures reaching 29 degrees, conditions were optimal on Leith Hill with many riders getting PB's. Alan and I both had good runs, I took 23 seconds off my time in the Redhill HC last year (placing 8th overall). In his comeback year Alan also recorded a respectable time placing 40th. Nathan didn't ride but was out supporting on the hillside. The winner was Pete Tadros.
Alan - 5.33.5
Maurice - 4.06
Catford HC - York Hill
A damp start to the day didn't deter the crowds with many clubs riding out to support the competitors, Redhill didn't dissapoint and we were glad of the cheers! Nathan did one of his usual gritty experienced runs on a flat barred road bike, I was a bit slow in the middle section but able to look fast at the end for the crowd. Alan became the start of the show, appearing through the hordes of spectators turning a cadence a ferris wheel would be proud of whilst wearing a Jonny Vegas-style hat. The crowd roared him up the final few metres. The winner was Robert Gough.
Maurice - 2.31.8
Alan - 3.21.7
Nathan - 2.47.1
BEC HC - Titsey Hill
The sun was well out by now beating the main roads dry and although White Lane was still lacking traction in places, we had another loud crowd of RCC supporters.
Alan looked at lot more comfortable and Nathan again had a strong ride, although from his relaxed appearance in the photos appears to be out dawdling on a club-run. This time I went nearly all-out from the gun and gambled on not cracking during the final 25% section, just about made it. The winner was Germaine Burton.
Alan - 3.10.9
Nathan - 2.35.6
Maurice - 2.14.4
