FARTHING DOWNS MILLENIUM  CAIRN HIJACKED

It was reported that on Saturday last a group of raiders from Redhill carried out an attack on the Farthing Downs Cairn, transforming the well known landmark into a living memorial.

They had apparently,  secretly met at the Redhill Aerodrome from where they were transported via Nutfield, Merstham and Chipstead to Farthing Downs, a witness said he had seen them at  Chipstead gathered around a Parrot's grave that appeared  to be to small  for their purpose.

After removing the Cairn and replacing it with their own version the group left in a Southerly direction  making sure the original was restored to it's proper place.

A bemused walker who saw this said he thought they were from  a local cricket club as they were wearing Redhill CC T shirts.

In Chaldon the group were spotted once again acting in a suspicious manner and wielding bicycle pumps and rubber tubes. 

Last seen heading South through Bletchingly and Outwood it was thought the Raiders had returned to Redhill, having travelled about forty miles to carry out the installation. Their average speed is not available.
