Stormy Stormy Night.
Five of us met at the Volunteer Pub for the third in our series of social night rides. The weather looked ominous but we put on our optimistic hats
(helmets) and proceeded up the 3 mile climb to Leith Hill, the Lights were soon switched on as we went through the trees and we quickly found ourselves at the tower. Down the rooty descent we all made it safely to the bottom except for Steve who we watched riding into a bush. Recovered we went onto Summer Lightning, the twists and turns caught those out without head torches, however we all enjoyed the challenge. Then it started raining and it chucked it down, standing under a tree for a few minutes we decided to go for it, returning back up to Leith hill. This is where where Fran's light failed, Helen kindly lent her head torch. Then down the climb we came up at the beginning, this climb had now turned into a fast flowing stream and we descended rapidly splashing through the water and stones. By the time we got back to the car park all of us were covered in mud and soaked to the skin, good job we had a change of clothes - we then went to the pub where we all agreed what fun it was and started to give advice to Fran on new bike choice. Here's to next week s ride.
