A great turn out at Woodhatch Saturday morning came as no surprise as the weather gods had their smiles on. As the G3’s 4’s and 2's disembarked, I sat patiently ready to debrief my squad of G1’s. To my delight 12 of us were left to have a social jaunt round the local lanes. Also to my delight the wonderful Geoff Clifton was there to offer his expertise in the form of back marking.
There was Headly, Lynne, Barry, Roy, Damian, Charlotte, Tom, Abigail, Keith, Paul, Myself and of course the aforementioned Geoff. I was familiar with some - but not all - of these faces so it was great to chat and make some new acquaintances. We headed out to Charlwood then up to Rusper and down to the Tanhouse for an early tea stop. Tan house were a little unprepared for such a large group of cyclists at this time and as a result we had quite a lengthy stop, but it was great to catch up with those I hadn’t had a chance to talk to.
Keith is off to do Lands End to Twickenham shortly - good luck for that. Paul was on great form sprinting after any break aways’s sure to be with the G2’s next week, and the school where Roy works is in part organising a triathlon of sorts in the coming months (must get the details from you Roy.) Anyway after tea it was out along the lovely lanes towards the back of Brockham then through the lovely village itself (Where no doubt we will soon see the first signs of Bonfire building) Then on towards home. Just over 30 miles at a very respectable and enjoyable 13.5 average. Thanks to all for a great ride and an extra thanks to Geoff for back marking. See you all in G4 soon!
Cheers
Marmite Pete
