Glorious ride to Heaven...

Six riders revelled in the late summer sun as they rode through the lanes of Surrey, Sussex and Kent.

The sun backlighting the trees by the lake at the Hammer Ponds, near Cowden, had me regretting the absence of a camera.

Even the long haul up Black Hill did not dampen our spirits and the effort was worth it. The views from the top of Ashdown Forest were magnificent. We felt as if we were on the roof of the world (or rather, South East England!).

After 42 hilly miles we reached our tea stop, Heaven Farm, near Danehill. We headed home after tea and a snack arriving back at about 2:15 having covered 63 miles.
