25 of us met at the Ranmore NT car park. It was a crisp, cold sunny morning. After a nice warm-up along the road we joined the NDW where we had our first and only puncture of the day. The track towards Newlands was initially deeply puddled but soon improved. We continued to Chantry Wood where we took the route down Juniper Hill avoiding the usual hazardous 4x4 track to Shere. Along Dark Lane, past Farley Green & through Winterfold Wood to the fantastic viewpoint at Reynards Hill, past Ewhurst Windmill & down the road to Peaslake.
For the return Journey we took the quickest route down Rad Lane, along the Abinger Roughs & up the long flint track to Ranmore. Total distance almost exactly 20 miles. Many thanks to Steve Grant for being back marker during the ride, and thanks to all who helped with marking the other numerous junctions.
Mark Raffield.
