White wins second TT competition in three years

Steve White has won Redhill Cycling Club's annual time trial competition for the second time in three years, finishing off the series in style by taking first place in the final round on Wednesday at Horne.

White, who went into the final round with a 10 point lead, which realistically meant the title was already his, nevertheless pulled out all the stops to produce a personal best time that extended his final points total to 90.5, 14 points clear of nearest rival Andre Roux.

The competition, which this year started in May and ran over 18 rounds, rewards riders according to improvement on previous best time; each week the rider who has improved the most is awarded 10 points, with 9 points going to the second best improver, etc. White took the lead in the competition after round 7 and never relinquished it.

Throughout the series, Jon Masters, one of the club's top racers, was regularly the fastest, notching up 10 wins from the 12 rounds in which he competed.
