Fourteen of us met at Reigate Hill Car park. Thankfully the earlier torrential rain had cleared but the ground was very waterlogged. We headed past Colley Hill then over the M-Way and through Mogador, across the Golf Course and up Tye Lane. We went around the edge of Headley Heath and then down Lodgebottom Road to the base of Box Hill. This road section allowed us to make up time rather than going across Mickleham Downs. We then went through the subway past the station and up Crabtree lane, then across to the edge of Great Bookham. We then turned towards Polesden Lacey and then down Connicut Lane to Bagden Farm. It was a pleasant surprise to find that Connicut Lane had been resurfaced or improved in some way and offered a much better ride. We then went down Chapel Lane to West humble where we met a totally flooded section of road - see photo. We then climbed Box Hill to the cafe.
The route back was slightly different to usual - we went along the road past Box Hill village and turned left past the stables and across Headley Heath. This missed out the really muddy and hilly section on Headley Heath. We then went back across the Golf course to Reigate Hill.
Total distance about 22 miles. No rain during the ride was an added bonus. ..................Mark.
