A day in Kent Surrey East and West Sussex

The most bizarre question of the day, I think, was "Is
there a shop here, I need an eccles cake?".  I sorted out a tea stop but I
didn’t think about eccles cakes.

I should have realised I was in for a difficult day when i
saw my back marker go past on a parallel path and take a wrong turning !!!!. We were only about half a mile from Outwood at the time.

Across country, where tracks allow, through Crowhurst,
Lingfield, Dormansland and into Kent.  Yes Kent for the non believers. Into
Cowden and out again through someone’s garden, that what the sign said so I
followed it!
Trying to stay off road as much as poss, but the path kind
of ran out, so we enlisted the help of a local jogger who in my view didn’t
know where he was, where he was going or more to the point where we were. Next on the list- Ashurst Wood, lovely place, no eccles
cakes but we did make a blushing brides day, applauding as she left for the church. We were photographed Guys- I hoped you looked your best. Back into the top of Dormansland across Lingfield Golf
course Crowhurst and up to Outwood a great ride and a great day out.
Now, it was brought to my attention that the off road
secretary thought that Saturdays ride was going to be a bit short!  Well, how
does 40 miles sound, yes I am serious most of it by design the rest by
accident.Seriously, thanks everyone for your support and good company
and help when the wheels looked like coming off and the humour was fantastic.Heres to the next one!!!!Paul Banfill
