Brighton Mitre Sporting '33'

Two Redhill riders competed in today's sporting time trial at Loxwood in West Sussex, with both coming away satisfied with their efforts. Andrew Murray completed the 33 mile course in 1:33:25, while Gavin Garrett finished in 1:38:26.

The course, GS/490, which consists of almost two laps of a 17 mile circuit, challenged riders with twisty - and often unevenly surfaced - country roads, with some short, sharp climbs and descents as it progressed from Loxwood to Alfold, west to Dunsfold, then south through Plaistow and Kirdford, before heading west then north back to Loxwood.

With the temperature reaching a warm 25C, on a glorious day, and with only a slight breeze, this was a most enjoyable cycling challenge for a Bank Holiday afternoon.

The event, promoted by Brighton Mitre CC, was won by Michale Coyle in a time under 1 hour and 16 minutes.
