Paul Pickup made it a fourth consecutive win at Redhill CC’s Annual Sporting Time Trial.
Road works (resulting in a slightly shortened course) snow flurries (snow storms later), a biting North Easterly wind – nothing stopped the Pickup machine winning the event for the fourth consecutive year by a huge margin of 2mins 49 secs over second place Stephen Emmerson (Epsom CC) with Stewart Jardine (21st Century Airports CT) just 13 secs behind in third place.
Team prize went to Epsom CC (Stephen Emmerson, Nick McCormick and Bob Stapley : 2:31:18) in front of Redhill CC trio (Duncan Murdoch, Jon Masters and Dan Bartley : 2:33:19)
Redhill CC riders made an impressive entry (18) – top rider was Duncan Murdoch with a time of 49:56 followed by Jon Masters (51:20) and Dan Bartley just 17 seconds later. This group of three took second place for the Club in the team event.
Some notable performances came from; George Roux with a fantastic time of 57:50 (taking many minutes off his 2004 time and winning the Junior Event into the bargain), Allan Hopkins again showing good form early in the season and Nathan Chamberlain showing good speed after only a few events under his belt. It was also good to see several riders new to the Club competing so enthusiastically - Gavin Garrett, Claude lhomme, and Andrew Murray – all of whom are already entered for the next event (East Surrey Hardriders 30 mile TT) and our congratulations also go to Collette Roux for winning the Ladies event after one of her usual determined rides.
