With the number of Saturday road riders rising all the time, we are moving the start point for Saturday Road Rides to Redhill Aerodrome from Saturday 23rd April. The aerodrome have very kindly agreed to allow RCC to gather, park if necessary, and leave from their site during the summer months (likely to be mid-April to mid-September).
The change has a number of advantages: 1) we won't irritate the Woodhatch residents and businesses as we grow 2) it will be easier to find and sign up for different rides 3) the aerodrome has no safety issues departing onto a busy road/junction. 4) It has a wonderful Cafe open from 7am!
The aerodrome is in Kingsmill Lane, just off Mason's Bridge Road and is exactly three miles from Woodhatch Park. To get there from Woodhatch, follow Woodhatch Road east from the park, left into Maple Road, dog leg across the A23 into Three Arch Road, right at the hospital roundabout up Mason's Bridge Road until you turn left into Kingsmill Lane at the top. The aerodrome entrance is 3/4 mile down on the right. It is clearly signed from Mason's Bridge Road.
The image below shows where we should park and gather.

With the move comes a degree of responsibility. This is an aerodrome and we must not create any safety issues or hassle for its users. There may also be weekends when aerodrome events make it impractical for us to start there. Finally, the Cafe is a tempting pre-ride port of call but if you use it, be careful when leaving your bike outside and be sure to be back in the gathering place for 8.50am to sign up for your ride.
We hope the new arrangement is workable and helpful for everyone.
Thanks
